Information we collect
We collect personal information through web forms, email, server logs and, during a project, records you share with us.
- Web forms. When you fill in the contact, request-a-call or estimate form, we collect what you type: usually your name, your email address, your phone number, your business name and your message.
- Email and messages. If you email us, or send us files during a project, we keep that correspondence.
- Server logs. Our web server records the standard details of each visit (your IP address, your browser, the page you came from and the time) for security and for counting traffic in bulk.
- Records you share during a project. If you send us customer, tenant or patient information so we can build or test your tool, we use it only for that and delete our copy when the project ends.
Uses we make of it
We use your information only for the reason you gave it to us.
- To reply to your enquiry and talk about possible work.
- To do the work we've agreed to do, including keeping in touch during the project.
- To send invoices, receipts and the tax records Canadian law requires.
- To run, secure and maintain this website.
We do not sell, rent or lease personal information to anyone.
Companies that also see it
A small number of service providers help us operate.
- The web hosting and email company that stores the site's files and records and delivers messages.
- The company that registers our web address and keeps the website reachable.
- The accounting and invoicing program that holds our tax and billing records.
- Google Analytics, which counts visits for visitors who accept analytics cookies.
Each has its own privacy practices, and we choose providers that meet Canadian or equivalent privacy standards. We do not share your information with advertisers, marketing networks or data brokers.
Your rights under PIPEDA
Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act gives you the right to:
- know what personal information we hold about you;
- see it and ask for a copy;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- withdraw your consent to our using it, at any time, with reasonable notice.
To do any of these, use our contact form and put "privacy request" in the message. We treat privacy requests as a priority and reply within one business day.
Cookies
This website uses a small number of essential cookies to keep forms working and secure. We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
If you choose Accept on our cookie banner, Google Analytics sets cookies that let us count visits, including repeat visits from the same browser, and see which pages are useful. It records the pages you view, how you arrived, your device type and your approximate location, and Google processes that data for us, possibly outside Canada. If you choose Decline, or make no choice, no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent to Google. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
Time we keep it
Our own records about a client (proposals, invoices, correspondence) are kept for the life of the project and for seven years after it ends, which is what Canadian tax rules require. Files a client shares with us during a build are returned or deleted when the project ends. Enquiries that don't turn into projects are kept for two years and then deleted.
Children
This site and our services are for adults running businesses. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices, our providers or the law change. The date below is when this version took effect.
